Hello Parents and Guardians!

With in this blog you will find information about events happening this month as a whole grade, as an immersion group, and in individual classes.

Each month there will be a new post describing that months events. As needed there will be additional posts. Please read through thoroughly for any questions you may have. If you have a question specific to your student please send a private email. Upcoming events are also listed to the right of the monthly posts.

Upcoming Events in Fourth Grade

Library Wonder Day

Students will participate in two library themed centers. The first will be a coding center and the second a library scavenger hunt. We do not need any parent volunteers or supplies for this particular Wonder Day.

FEC Carnival

The annual FEC carnival is coming up. Stop by to dunk Ms. Carsey in the dunk tank!

Language Arts

Spelling

We are currently on unit 1. The lists are attached on the English documents page. Students will study in class but it is encouraged that they also study at home.

Spelling tests are given every Friday.

Reading

Continue having your child read 20 minutes a day.

Math

This month we will be working on adding and subtraction rules. We will also be starting multiplication and division. We ask that you review multiplication facts with your students. Students need to master these facts by the end of the year.

On Sep 12, we will have our water cycle unit test. This year, science will be mainly taught in Chinese, but all science tests, including the end-of-year test, will be in English. Thus, as indicated in Chinese homework, kids are expected to spend at least 20 minutes per week to do the science review in English on our blog. It’s great if your kid has started to do this. If not, please encourage them to start.
